You can make money doing anything.
Why pick things we aren't 100,000,001% obsessed with?
FOR DELICIOUS EXAMPLE—
Stumbled across Kathryn Hastings, who just crossed the $1M/year mark selling—ready for this—gorgeous wax seals for letters. (h/t Laura Belgray)
But, she doesn't just sell (the world's most freakin' sexy!) wax seals.
She also sells courses teaching you how to do it.
Including one for $350 called "The Art of Wax Seals." 🌷
And, do you know what an absolute GAME CHANGER this is for your business? To have something you have made, that is seriously useful for others, and can be sold online, without having to ship it (or be physically in one place forever), and no matter how many buyers you have, it doesn't create extra work, only extra revenue?
I have a strong, 100-proof opinion that every business in the world should also have an online course helping others do what they know how to do.
Why wouldn't we?
It's the most obvious, smart, modern product you could sell—and it always shocks me how many businesses *don't* do it, because they can't find the time.
That's like saying you don't have time to do an extra cool milllllllll a year. 🤷♀️
Now, granted, a lot of people make the fatal mistake of making their first online course, and then just putting it up on their website, and then being all like, "wait, why is no one buying it????" 😭
But that's because they only completed 50% of the set-up. 🌓
The other missing 50%—which is a critical, necessary step—is setting up the systems to sell it, intelligently and beautifully, on autopilot, while you drink Aperol Spritzes in Puglia all summer, and use technology to support you + your soul + your bank account, lovingly. (This is where I'm headed this summer myself. Bye bye farmhouse, see you again soon!)
Not doing this part is akin to making the world's most beautiful perfume, and then putting it on a shelf in your living room, and then being like: but why isn't anyone buying it?
Answer: because you aren't actually selling it. 🚀
It's just sitting there. 🪨
And, there's a difference between knowing how to sell something with integrity, and being too scared to sell something because you're afraid you won't have integrity.
You can learn how to sell things with grace and smarts and razor-sharp strategies that make it all a breeze: not just for you to sell, but for your customers to say "hell yes!"
And, you can also do it in a way that leverages modern tools and technology to make your life easier.
Again: why wouldn't we, right?
I AM SO OBSESSED WITH TECH. It's so much fun. So cool to set up systems that help you live a beautiful life.
I'm *really* excited that you took a chance on Selfish School to guide you with this. How's it going so far? Any ah-ha moments? Any awesome milestones to report? Hit reply and let me know!
Also: you should have access to the all-new classroom experience. Make sure you email me to ash@ashambirge.com if for any reason you don't! (Sometimes an invite may go to spam and then you would have never saw it and then we'd all be crying into our stew!)
I'm looking forward to recording all-new videos this summer, and creating all-new resources for you, too, so we all can continue to prioritize and protect our mental health, our wealth, our free time, our spaciousness, and our sanity in an ever-increasingly busy world.
To building beautiful things that help us live a beautiful life. 🥂
