Hey! Nobody Cares What You Do! (Depressing, Until You Realize It's POWER.)
It’s really easy to assume that other people know what’s best for us.
The people above. The ones in charge. The bosses, the decision makers, the collective “they.”
We do what they ask, eat what they serve us, follow their guidelines, take their word, accept things at face value, and believe that someone, out there, is looking out for our best interests. Isn’t that what the government is for? Isn’t that what the big, faceless organizations are for? Aren’t there important people in charge tasked with babysitting the population at large?
It’s comforting to think that someone else is responsible for making the rules. It’s even more soothing to believe that society takes cares of its own.
But nobody cares what you’re doing.
No one’s going to tell you that your job is beneath you, or you should really have some blood work done, or that fatigue you’re feeling every day actually means something. It is 100,000% on you to trust yourself enough to figure out what’s wrong in your life—and then take steps to make it right.
Scary, right?
We’ve never had so much responsibility.
But we also never had so much fucking power.
