What Would You Do Differently If You Were Competing Against Yourself?
Last month, I posted a simple question to our TMFproject Facebook group:
What would you do differently if you were competing against yourself?
It’s worth considering whether you’re building a business or not.
Some of the responses we received:
:: Spend less time screwing around on Facebook (whoops).
:: I’d wake up earlier and do yoga every morning and cut out the processed food. I’d also take an assertiveness training course. Healthy body can help a healthy mind. But…instead I drag myself out of bed every day and dread the 10 hr day in a cubicle. Therefore by allowing it to continue, I’m keeping myself trapped in said hell.
:: Oh, I totally know how I would beat me… Yikes, very enlightening question..
:: Instead of making a lot of quick small things, create bigger more impressive paintings.
:: BILL FOR EVERY FUCKING SECOND.
:: Manage my time better.
:: I would send line sheets to all potential wholesale accounts I’m not pursuing now because I feel too busy managing everything else to get more clients.
:: Less procrastination. Totally that.
:: Have more confidence in my decisions, then move on and stop dwelling on them!
:: Holy hell this just changed my mind completely about how I have been viewing competition in my business… It’s not about them it is about being better than myself every day… HOLY HELL MIND FUCK TIME TO GET TO WORK.
:: Ship more.
And so I pose the same question to you:
What would you do differently if you were competing against yourself?
But don’t stop there.
Because the better insight doesn’t come from just recognizing what you’d do differently.
Rather, the insight comes when you figure out why you aren’t.
The better question: What needs to change?
Whisper that into your own fucking ear the next three nights in a row and see what happens.
